I am a Jesuit priest of the USA East Province who has an avocation of binding art and creativity to spirituality. I have a SoWa (South End) studio in Boston and I give retreats and spiritual direction using creative techniques to make a person's Ignatian prayer particular and unique. Ignatian Spirituality is the cornerstone of my work; art, poetry, prose is a way to help us get to the heart of conversations in prayer.

Ready, Set, Go
I head out with my tertian-mates on Thursday for Sevenhill, which is two hours north of Adelaide. We arrive on Saturday and begin the long retreat. Though I am looking forward to it, I approach it with a sober countenance as I learned this morning that a friend of mine, Fr. Bernie Smith, OFMcap (Franciscan Caphucin) died suddenly and unexpectedly. I miss him and I feel so sad. It does help me remember that our mortality is a part of life and that our purpose in life is to orient our thoughts and actions to God's will. God does love us and care for us very kindly and mercifully. May my friend, Bernie, rest in God's love.
