Dara has now spent a couple of days at home and she and Dale, her boyfriend, are getting into a routine. She likes sleeping in her own bed, and she has slept soundly. A few friends have visited her as well, which brightens her day. The best part is that she is sitting up much longer each day, which helps her body in many ways. On Saturday, her voice was very clear for a while, and she has not had to clear her throat nearly as often. I believe that she will become even clearer in speaking now that her body is adjusting to this change in posture. She will receive the Visiting Nurses and some outpatient care to help in her adjustment. She gets tired throughout the day, which is great, because she is adjusting to all the changes in her environment.
Dara is now eating tasty food again. Dale is making her eat vegetables along with the tastier foods. I hope to order a meal for them this week and have it delivered so that Dale doesn't have the burden of cooking each night. I think this week will be exciting to see just how well her body is responding to all the changes. I know it will take a couple of weeks to show evidence of her progress, but there are tiny signs about her improvement.
I sent her a watercolor painting of roses I just did. She should receive them early this week, if the U.S.P.S. is given enough resources to do their jobs.
During my conversations with Dara this past year, I learned that she likes garden gnomes and Halloween. I went into a art supply store this week and I saw plenty of both - already on display. It is a reminder that summer will begin to fade and the fall season will arrive soon.
Let's keep praying also for a miracle with COVID. We will get through it but it will take some time. We can do this together by protecting one another.
Here is Dara's contact information once again. She is on the West coast, so if it is 11:00 on the East Coast, it is 8:00 a.m. in Los Angeles.
