What do you think?
Shall I merge the two blogs I operate into one? On the Ignatian Spirituality blog, I posted daily prayers and homilies/Saints of the Week/This Day in Jesuit History. On the other, I write about my experiences in the Frontiers: Jordan and the Middle East. The two are distinct, but would it be wise for me just to post on one or keep them separate?
I am a Jesuit priest of the USA East Province who has an avocation of binding art and creativity to spirituality. I have a SoWa (South End) studio in Boston and I give retreats and spiritual direction using creative techniques to make a person's Ignatian prayer particular and unique. Ignatian Spirituality is the cornerstone of my work; art, poetry, prose is a way to help us get to the heart of conversations in prayer.

That is a good question and I wish that I had a good answer for you. I will say this, it might make your life easier if you combine them. I know that is not your only motivation, but it is what comes to mind. I say that as someone ever struggling to maintain 3 blogs... so I am biased!
ReplyDeleteMay Ignatius help you to discern the right blogging path.
Thanks, Fran. It will simplify things for sure. My original intent was to keep two because one was more focused on spirituality and the other was much more personal, however aren't we all called to integration?
DeleteI'm on catch up so I don't know if you have already made a decision on this. I like the separate Frontiers one because I have found it is a valuable record of your journey, both interior and exterior and it is remarkable to see the progression in your posts all in one place. But you are also right about integration too.
ReplyDeleteHowever, keeping the Frontier posts separate could be very useful to anyone thinking about embarking on a similar post abroad.
Similarly your James Alison posts are pretty much a series that I like to have more or less in sequence rather than being cut up with other things.
It is undoubtedly easier to have one blog and if time is pressing then that would make a great deal of sense.
You asked which would be wiser ??? Not sure :-)) but hope it helps
Blessings
Thanks, Phil. I haven't decided yet what I will do but thanks for the input. For the time being, it will be easier for me to keep them separate until I decide how next to proceed. I want to keep them both fresh. Today, I thought of adding something to the other blog, which might be helpful to some, but I want to try it out first and see if it works. In the online world, you have to keep things fresh for people, but there is also a place for the routine and familiar.
